When clients apply for Public Assistance, Job and Family Services refers clients to the correct employment assistance program...

Clients with minor children will receive employment services through The Job Center. At their application for benefits they will receive an apopintment letter for the following day at the Job Center. At this appointment the family's work activity will be explained to them, and if there are two adults in the family one of the adults will choose to fulfill this requirement. The adult member of the case who accepts this placement will attend the work activity Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30am - 4:00pm at The Job Center, 1040 E Tallmadge Ave, Akron, Oh, 44310.  On Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:30am-4:00pm clients will attend ESL and job placement assistance at Asia Inc, 730 Carroll St, Akron, Oh, 44304.

Clients without minor children will be referred by Job and Family Services to the employment services department at the International Institute of Akron (IIA).  This is done automatically at the benefits appointment.  A staff member at the IIA will get in the touch with the client themselves to set up a meeting time. The meeting will be held at the IIA.
